Our approach
How we think about learning, teaching and AI.
Dersify is built on a few firm ideas: learning happens with an instructor, not instead of one; progress is evidence, not a label; and AI earns its place only when it helps someone learn or teach — never when it does the work for them.

People decide
Blended learning
One learning cycle, in class and beyond it.
Dersify is designed for programs where an instructor teaches and learners keep practising on their own devices. The platform connects the two, so class time and independent study build on each other.
01
Before class
Short preparation — vocabulary, a reading, a listening — so learners arrive ready.
02
During class
The instructor leads: sends the class to a page, runs activities and checks understanding as it happens.
03
After class
Coursework and practice continue from the lesson, so what was taught is used again.
Progress and evidence
Four skills, each with its own picture.
A learner can read well and still find speaking hard. Dersify keeps evidence for reading, writing, listening and speaking separately and never reduces a learner to one flat level. Learning outcomes are referenced to CEFR descriptors from A1 to C2, while your program keeps its own levels.
Help is part of the evidence
A correct answer on a first try and a correct answer after two hints are both recorded — and they don’t mean the same thing.
Can-do statements in plain words
Each outcome moves from “Not yet” to “Getting there” to “Can do”, and learners see why.
Instructor judgement counts most
When an instructor releases a review of writing or speaking, their assessment outweighs the automatic evaluation of the same work.
The learner AI contract
Ask Dersify may explain anything about the lesson. It will never give the answer.
Ask Dersify is not a general chatbot. It works from the smallest relevant context — the current page or activity, its learning objective and the learner’s level — and when it doesn’t have enough to answer reliably, it says so and points the learner to their instructor.
What happens when a learner gets it wrong
- 01
A wrong answer
First, a simple “try again” — a chance to think it through alone.
- 02
First hint
The idea behind the answer, without giving it away.
- 03
Second hint
An example and the rule — still not the answer.
- 04Never
The answer itself
Never given. Help grows into more support, not into the solution.
Hints reviewed by the curriculum team come first. Dersify writes a hint only when none exists, and checks that it doesn’t reveal the answer.
- Grounded in the current lesson
- Explains in a different way when asked
- Says “ask your instructor” rather than guessing
Help by activity
The kind of activity decides the help.
Every activity carries its mode, and the mode sets what Ask Dersify may do. When a passage contains a formal question, the stricter rule wins.
Practice
Explanations, hints, writing coaching and questions about the lesson.
- Explain the instructions and ideas
- Hints after a wrong answer
- Coaching on practice writing
Coursework
Help with instructions and concepts only — no coaching towards the answer.
- Explain the instructions and ideas
- Hints after a wrong answer
- Coaching on practice writing
Formal assessment
Ask Dersify is switched off. The work is the learner’s own.
- Explain the instructions and ideas
- Hints after a wrong answer
- Coaching on practice writing
Curriculum and decisions
AI can draft. People decide.
The coursebook learners read is produced with AI and approved by people. Results and promotions are confirmed by instructors and staff. AI makes work faster; it doesn’t make the decisions.
- 01
AI
Drafts a stage of the curriculum from approved materials and the level’s brief.
- 02
Curriculum editor
Reviews, edits and improves the draft.
- 03
A second person
Approves it. No one approves work they produced.
- 04
Curriculum lead
Publishes a release once its checks pass.
Instructors release results
Marks reach learners when the instructor releases them.
Promotions are confirmed by people
Instructors recommend; administrators confirm. Moving up a level is never automatic.
Coursework is transparent
Each Coursework question is written for the learner from the published unit and their own evidence, and shows the reason it was asked.
Privacy
What a learner asks stays with the learner.
Learners need a place to ask questions without feeling watched. Instructors and administrators never see learners’ conversations with Ask Dersify. Those records exist only to keep the assistant safe and to support evidence of learning — never for review of what a learner asked.
01
No conversation review
There is no screen where staff read a learner’s AI chats.
02
Memory that doesn’t follow learners around
Ask Dersify remembers the last few turns of the current activity, and nothing from one lesson is carried into the next.
03
Only what’s needed
Each request includes the smallest context needed to help — never a learner’s full history.
What we promise
We promise a better structure for learning — not fluency in thirty days.
Language learning takes time, good teaching and a lot of practice. We won’t publish success rates or improvement figures we can’t stand behind. What we can promise is a platform that makes the work clearer, the practice more purposeful and the progress easier to see.
See the approach in practice.
We’ll walk you through Dersify with your learners and your program in mind.
